Newly elected Ennis City Marshal/Chief of Police John Erisman will be the keynote speaker at the upcoming quarterly membership meeting and Chamber of Commerce roundtable luncheon to be held at noon June 18 at the Texas Motorplex Champions Club, 7500 W. Ennis Ave.
Erisman graduated from Sam Houston University with a bachelor’s of science degree in criminal justice and concentrated on law enforcement and police science. Erisman has continued to expand his credentials with numerous classroom hours of law enforcement training and education.
Erisman was the 1998 Ennis Police Department’s “Rookie of the Year,” followed by “Officer of the Year” in 1999, and has served as president of the Ennis Police Officer’s Association.
Erisman’s political platform in the recent election included leading the Ennis Police Department based on Christian values and in a commitment to his hometown, he pledged to make Ennis a good and safe city in which to live, raise a family or own a business. He lists police and community relations, office safety and crime prevention as issues he will address in his new position.
Patsy Grider, president and CEO of the chamber of commerce, is pleased that Erisman will contribute to the event.
“True to his word about community relations, Erisman is carving time out of his busy schedule to meet with chamber members and guests, and we really look forward to getting to know him better,” she said.
Any member wishing to make an announcement should notify the chamber in advance in order to prepare an appropriate timeline for the luncheon.
New members will be recognized and chamber updates will be presented.
Reservations for the luncheon are required and advance payment is preferred. Cost of the luncheon is $20 per person and arrangements may be made by dropping by the chamber office at 108 Chamber of Commerce Drive, calling the chamber at (972) 878-2625, or by e-mail to Kimberly@ennis-chamber.com.
