Since I began keeping weather observations and records in April, 1973, I’ve already recorded more rain during the first six months of 2007, 36.41 inches, than I recorded the entire years of 1975, 1977, 1978, 1980, 1982, 1983, 1988, 1995, 1999, 2002, 2003, and 2005.

The wettest June that I have recorded during the last 33 years is 11.46 inches during June 1981. In June 2007, I recorded almost as much, but not quite. I recorded 11.25 inches in June 2007.

In May 1981, I recorded 9.33 inches and in June 1981, I recorded 11.46 inches for a combined total for May and June 1981 of 20.79 inches of rain. In May 2007, I recorded 8.40 inches and in June 2007, I recorded 11.25 inches for a combined total for May and June 2007 of 19.65 inches.

The following rainfall totals are the most rainfall that I have recorded during the first six months of a year. The most was recorded during the first six months of 1990, 36.65 inches. The last six months of 1990 had only 11.98 inches. The first six months of 1992, I recorded 32.08 inches and during the last six months of 1992, I recorded 21.30 inches. In 2000, I recorded 31.18 inches during the first six months of 2000, and 18.98 inches the last six months.

The first six months of 1989 produced 30.71 inches, but the last six months produced only 8.78 inches. During the first six months of 2004, I recorded 30.32 inches and the last six months had 19.44 inches. During the first six months of 2007, I recorded 36.41 inches and during the last six months of 2007??? Well, we’ll have to wait and see.
