Weather Highlights

Here is something I found interesting. As of Sept. 16, I have recorded 3.91 inches of rain so far this September. What’s so interesting about that, you ask? Well, that’s exactly the total rainfall that I recorded for July and August combined. I recorded 3.62 inches in July, and only 0.29 of an inch in all of August, a total of 3.91 inches.

Now, lets take a look at some records I have compiled for September during the last 33 years of observing and recording Ennis Weather.

On Sept. 28, 2005, I recorded 101 degrees in Ennis. It’s the latest date in a year that I have recorded a 100 degree or above day during the last 33 years.

Sept. 1, 1976, I recorded a total of 8.25 inches of rain. Also, September 1976, I recorded a total of 13.15 inches of rain for September. It’s the most rainfall that I have recorded in a month during the last 33 years.

The coolest temperature that I have recorded in September is 42 degrees on Sept. 22, 1983.

The warmest temperature is 110 degrees recorded on Sept. 3, 2000, and Sept. 4, 2000.

The driest September is September 1997 with a total rainfall of only 0.20 of an inch.

The most I have recorded is September 1974 with an average of 69.7 degrees. The warmest September is September 2005 with an average of 83.1 degrees.

The most 100 degree or above days that I have recorded in September is seven days in September 2005, September 2000 and September 1980.
