Ennis resident and Miss Texas 2011, Kendall Morris, is back home after finishing in the top 10 at the Miss America pageant Jan. 14 at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nev.
“Going into the competition I wanted to represent Texas well, and I hoped that I would make it, but I wasn’t positive,” Morris said. “I was shocked whenever I heard my name called into the top 15. I was thrilled to death and almost sunk to my knees. Then I was called again into the top 12 and competed in the evening gown portion. My parents were sitting together close the stage, so I could clearly see their smiling faces from where I was standing when they called me into the top 10.”
