This year’s Ellis County Crop Tour will be held Monday, July 9.

The tour begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Avalon Gin and concludes with a noon meal and program at the Waxahachie Creek Park Pavilion.

Up to five continuing education units will be offered and a tentative schedule will include the following stops:

7:30 a.m. - coffee and doughnuts, Avalon Gin

8 a.m. - Stop No. 1 Roundup Ready corn varieties, Wilson Farm

9:30 a.m. - Stop No. 2 transgenic cotton variety trial, Beakley Farm

10:15 a.m. - Stop No. 3 grain sorghum variety trial, Sullivan Farm

11:15 a.m. - Stop No. 4 soybean variety trial, Beakley Farm

Noon - steak dinner at Waxahachie Creek Park pavilion prepared by Helena Chemical cooking crew

12:30 p.m. - beef cattle fly control update - Dr. Ron Gill - extension beef cattle specialist

1:15 p.m. - boll weevil eradication update - John Aten - boll weevil eradication

2 p.m. - wrap up, evaluation, CEU certificates
