The Ellis County Master Gardeners invites the community to attend their eighth annual Lawn and Garden Expo on Saturday.

An invitation also is extended to sign up for the group’s Ellis-Gardening Newsletter, which is available on the Web site at www.ecmga.com or can be delivered to individual e-mail addresses via an online subscription.

“The Ellis County Master Gardeners welcome you to join us for monthly tips, featured flowers, reprints of our KBEC radio spots and weekly articles from the Waxahachie Daily Light, horticultural articles written by our members, monthly things to do in your garden, gardening and horticultural ‘recipes’ using fruits and vegetables from our gardens, as well as decorations using things around our property and home will be featured in our publication,” a spokesman said.

Those attending the expo can learn more about the newsletter, which is published monthly, as well as other activities of the Master Gardeners by stopping by its booth during the expo.

The expo, which is being held at the Waxahachie Civic Center, will run from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

The event will feature thousands of plants to choose from the more than 100 booths and vendors, special seminars on selected lawn and garden topics and a children’s area.

“Another popular expo feature is the Master Gardener plant sales,” the spokesman said. “A cooperative agreement with the Waxahachie High School to use their greenhouse has permitted Master Gardeners to have more plants to sell this year than ever before.”

To coincide with the adult workshop topics, the sale will feature butterfly-attracting plants, natives, heirloom tomatoes and hard to find plants.
