MIDLOTHIAN – A tractor-trailer driver was transported by CareFlite air ambulance to a Dallas hospital after a single-vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon on Highway 67 south of Main Street.
“We had an 18-wheeler roll over about 3:30 p.m. yesterday. I don’t know how he managed to lose control of his vehicle but it managed to roll over on him and pinned him on the truck cab,” Midlothian Fire Chief David Schrodt told the Daily Light on Tuesday. “I don’t believe his injuries were critical but it took us almost an hour and a half to free him from the wreckage.”
The Red Oak Fire Department was called for assistance with its heavy rescue truck that has heavier extraction tools. Members of the Midlothian Police Department provided traffic control.
Schrodt said the wreckage was partially off of the right shoulder but blocking part of the right and left lanes of traffic.
