HILLSBORO – Milford police and Ellis County sheriff’s deputies took two suspects in a Hillsboro shoplifting offense into custody in Milford on Monday morning, March 7.

Officials with Polo Ralph Lauren at Outlets at Hillsboro notified Hillsboro police of the offense shortly after 10 a.m., with a description of the vehicle subsequently passed onto Ellis County authorities, the Hillsboro Reporter reported.

The vehicle was traveling on U.S. Highway 77 when it was spotted and pulled over in the 600 block of W. Crossman Street. An Ellis County sheriff’s dispatch report indicates Milford Police Chief Carlos Phoenix detained the vehicle occupants at gunpoint, with deputies responding as backup.

Hillsboro police went to the location and returned a 22-year-old Glenn Heights man and 29-year-old Dallas man to face theft charges.

Merchandise that was believed stolen from the business was found in the vehicle, according to the sheriff’s dispatch report.

Hillsboro Cpl. Dave Sinclair and Sgt. Leroy Rodriguez are the investigators on the case, according to the Hillsboro Reporter.
