The Ellis County Commissioners Court will host a transportation forum at the Waxahachie Civic Center on Thursday, Nov. 29.
The forum, which will last about two hours, will begin with refreshments at 6:30 p.m., with speakers commencing at about 7.
Ellis County is part of a metropolitan planning area that includes several counties. The guest speakers will discuss Ellis Countyís role and the impact of regional transportation planning, including topics such as Loop 9, State Highway 360, future federal funding, rail and the Dallas Logistics Hub.
Speakers include County Commissioner Pct. 4 Ron Brown, who is a member of the Regional Transportation Council, and Michael Morris, director of transportation for the North Central Texas Council of Governments, who will address regional highways, freeways and the outer loop.
Bill Hale, district engineer, Texas Department of Transportation, will report on the Highway 360 extension and other major freeway improvements including Interstate 35 and U.S. Highway 287.
Leslie Jutzi, director of governmental affairs and community relations, the Allen Group, will discuss the history of shipping containers from a national level to the local level while explaining the Dallas Logistics Hubís role.
