Waxahachie Bridal Extravaganza

Reservations are being taken for a February 2008 Caribbean cruise to benefit the Gingerbread House children’s advocacy center. The cruise is sponsored by Blue Knights XXI, a law enforcement motorcycle club. The seven-day trip from Galveston will include stops in Montego Bay, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. The community is invited to participate.

Flag burial event
Officer Wess Winn of the Waxahachie Police Department and his group of Explorers will be at Nicholas P. Sims Library on Flag Day for a flag burial demonstration from 10-11 a.m. Thursday, June 14. This activity is for ages 3-12.
Private applicator training
The Ellis County Extension Service will offer private applicator training Thursday, June 14, in the extension office at the sub-courthouse in Waxahachie. The license allows the license holder to buy and utilize restricted use and state limited use pesticides in their agricultural operations.
Registration is at 8:15 a.m., with the cost of manuals $40. Training is from 8:30 a.m.-noon, with the exam offered at 12:30 p.m. All activities should be complete by 3.
A photo ID is required. RSVP to the office to pick up materials prior to the class.

‘Sylvia’ on stage
Ennis Public Theatre presents “Sylvia,” Friday and Saturday nights, through June 30.

Written by A.R. Gurney, “Sylvia” is a romantic comedy about a dog, the middle-aged New York couple that adopts her and the drama that results.

The Waxahachie Downtown Farmers Market is held every Saturday from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. and continues through Oct. 27. The market is located at the south end of the Ellis County Courthouse on Franklin Street between Rogers and College. Vendors have fresh vegetables and fruits, plants, crafts and wares for purchase. Smoothies and other refreshments are also available. Master Gardeners are on site every week to answer agricultural questions.

This year’s guests will be the Aggie yell leaders and Reville. Nicholas P. Sims Library will sponsor a sign language class from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, in the meeting room on the first floor of library. Beginners and experienced signers are invited to attend.
