DrinkingLiberally

People who are passionate about progressive politics are invited to DrinkingLiberally, a national, informal get-together “promoting democracy, one pint at a time,” according to Nathalie Guyol, local host. “We have no officers, no agenda and no speeches — just a great time talking about the world we live in and events of the week.”

Helping Hands of Ennis is in need of food and staple items for their outreach program. Donations of protein sources such as tuna, peanut butter, canned meats, powdered milk and any other items would be appreciated.

July 27 - KBEC Radio is holding their annual “Listener Appreciation Day” at HEB from 11a.m. - 1 p.m. Free refreshments will be served and listeners have an opportunity to meet some of the radio personalities. Everyone is invited to attend.

July 26 - Aug.2 - The Ennis Public Theatre is holding auditions by appointment only for roles in the upcoming production of “Little Shop of Horrors”. July 27 - The New Founders fish fry will begin at 10:30 a.m. at 1903 Lafayette St. at a cost of $6 per plate. The meal includes fried catfish, French fries, baked beans, coleslaw, bread and dessert. July 28 - The Bristol Opry will be held beginning at 7 p.m. at the old Bristol schoolhouse. Admission is free and donations are accepted. Proceeds go to the Bristol Cemetery Association and Caring Hands of Bristol.

July 29 - Refiner’s Fire Church will be hosting the its annual Family Fun Fest activities beginning at 10 a.m. There will be rides, water slides, bounce houses, rock climbing, hot dogs, snow cones etc. The event is free to the public and the first 200 children receive a bag of school supplies.

July 30 - The Garrett Baptist Church will hold Vacation Bible School at 403 Templeton St. from 6 - 8 p.m. Classes run until Aug. 3 and registration begins July 30 at 5:30 p.m. Children will participate in crafts and games and a snack will be provided.
