First United Methodist Church is gearing up for its 11th annual Christmas Day community luncheon, which will be held in the family life center.

“We are expecting over 100 to dine in and we will probably make about 200 deliveries,” said Jouree Hardin, who works in the church office.

“We want people to call the church if they want to order a delivery and, if no one is on hand to answer the phone, people are asked to leave a message with their name and phone number,” Hardin said, saying deliveries would be made in the Waxahachie area and adding that diabetic meals are available.

Hardin said volunteers are mostly from the church, but several from the community always sign on to help every year.

“We want people to know that they are welcome to give a monetary gift if they choose and we are also asking people to donate toiletry items to go in our gift bags we are making up for people,” said Hardin, saying the gift bags are given out during the meal and included in the deliveries.

“I am looking forward to this Christmas dinner and I really believe we are going to have the best one yet,” Hardin said.
