With summer vacation only weeks away, Alvarado High School is gearing up to offer several camps to area children.

The fourth annual “Tip of the Spear” soccer camp, hosted by the AHS girls soccer team, will be offered from 9-11:30 a.m. June 11-14.

Anyone registering and paying their camp fee by May 17 will receive a $10 discount off the $65 cost of the camp.

The camps will take place at Charles Head Stadium, 1300 N. Cummings Rd., Alvarado. The stadium is easily accessible from the intersection of Interstate 35W, and State Highway 67. This state of the art facility features artificial turf that is less than two years old.

During the camp, there will be ready access to restroom facilities. Additionally, water will be readily available for all coaches and athletes.

The location of the stadium is convenient to (directly across the parking lot from) Alvarado Junior High School. The AJH gymnasium will be utilized for some indoor training and will also be available should inclement weather force the camps to relocate inside.

All campers should wear soccer cleats, bring an additional pair of tennis shoes (for use when the campers do indoor training), wear non-restrictive clothing, shin guards and sunscreen.

Costs will be $65 per camper, though there will be a $10 discount and a free camp T-shirt for campers who have paid in full by noon May 17.

Additionally, the Alvarado ISD Technology Department will be hosting three summer workshops beginning in June.

Its “Where in the World is Alvarado?” GPS camp will be from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. June 13-14, and their “Indian Pride Film Festival” videography camp will be from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on June 19-20

Finally, “Techno-CSI” CSI camp will be from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on June 18-19.

The cost of each camp is $20
