PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A former Pennsylvania state senator convicted on fraud charges has reported to federal prison in Kentucky.
Vincent Fumo faces 4ČO years in prison for defrauding the Senate and two nonprofits of several million dollars.
A Bureau of Prisons spokeswoman says Fumo arrived Monday morning at the low-security prison in Ashland, Ky. Ashland is about 400 miles from Fumo's home in Philadelphia.
The 66-year-old Fumo was a wealthy Democratic power broker during a 30-year state Senate career.
In July, he was sentenced to 55 months in prison. The sentence is well under the guideline range of about 10 to 12 years.
Co-defendant Ruth Arnao, a longtime Fumo aide, is also set to start a one-year prison term Monday.
