Common Threads Quilting keeps with trends at world market
Common Threads Quilting owner Denice Lipscomb recently attended the Houston International Quilt Market. Houston International Quilt Market is the largest quilt market in the country. Over 2,500 vendors from around the world attend this event to introduce their newest products to the retail quilting world.
Fabric manufacturers, publishers, designers and notion companies released their 2008 products at the market. In attendance with Lipscomb were her managers, Janine Welch and Shelly Schrome.
Common Threads Quilting has now been selected as one of only 12 quilt shops in the world to participate in Web Sampler Celebration 2008. “Marcus Brothers Fabrics” Civil War Classics fabric line will be the featured fabrics.

AirCanopy attains exclusive contract
AirCanopy Internet Services, Inc. announced that it has signed a deal to be the exclusive Internet provider for the 20,000 meters of HILCO Electric Cooperative.
The deal will allow AirCanopy exclusive rights to provide fixed and mobile wireless IP services on all HILCO assets and priority access to HILCO managed facilities.
The deal will provide access to HILCO members with broadband services and increase the value of membership. Specific packages will be made available to qualifying HILCO metered sites. Planning and preparation begins immediately with pilot projects featuring mobile and roaming wireless as well as public safety mobile IP scheduled for first quarter 2008.
“We are very excited to be working with AirCanopy to provide quality service to our members” said Matt Fehnel, technical director of HILCO Electric cooperative. “In working with other ISP’s we can really see a difference in the level of service that AirCanopy provides its customers.”
Phil Walsh, general manager, said it is a real privilege to be entrusted with responsibility to provide quality services to the HILCO membership.
“We are extremely pleased and look forward to working with the HILCO team deploying one of the largest wireless metropolitan area networks in existence today,” he said.
The proposed solution will provide WiFi and other fixed wireless solutions over approximately 4,000 square miles.
Edward Jones, 100 Black Men of America Inc. announce new collaboration
The financial services firm Edward Jones and 100 Black Men of America Inc., working in collaboration, announce a national program designed to raise the awareness of career opportunities within Edward Jones and to provide financial education programming in communities where both organizations have a presence.
The program will be piloted in five metropolitan cities including Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston and St. Louis. Edward Jones financial advisors will conduct financial educational seminars tailored to meet the interests of local communities. Seminar topics include planning for college costs, keeping informed about retirement savings options and working with youth to develop effective money management habits and skills.
The collaboration also will enable Edward Jones and the 100 Black Men of America Inc. to raise the level of awareness in various communities regarding career opportunities as an Edward Jones financial advisor.
Edward Jones and the 100 Black Men of America Inc. are joining together to further their common goals. Together, they will identify both potential candidates for careers as Edward Jones financial advisors and those others who may benefit from the Edward Jones business model in general.
