HOUMA, La. (AP) - Officials in Terrebonne Parish say a new 143-room, $22 million hotel will be open next to the Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center by early 2011.
Officials hope the new Courtyard by Marriott hotel will help bring new conventions and visitors to the parish.
The parish council on Monday unanimously approved a new timeline for construction of the proposed hotel, which is being built by "K Partners Hospitality" of San Antonio. The new timeline was needed because of delays in the project, which K Partners blamed on a rocky national economy that slowed project financing. A company official says K Partners now has secured a $13 million loan and is putting $9 million of its own money into the project.
