FERRIS – Units from the Ferris Fire Department responded to a grass fire at about 12:14 p.m. Wednesday in the 2800 block of Cynthia Road.

“The fire was started in a back of a residence by a person burning trash,” Fire Chief Eddie Duran said. “We were able to keep the fire contained to only a few acres.”

Dispatched to the scene were three brush trucks and one tanker. The Red Oak Fire Department also responded with a brush truck and a tanker. Eleven firefighters worked on the fire, with no injuries by the crews or residents.

The fire was contained at 12:27 p.m. and totally extinguished with the last unit clearing the scene at 1:23 p.m.
