Boy Scout Troop 232 will host a tribute to veterans and a flag retirement ceremony at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1,9 at the Rotary Scout Cabin on Brown Streeet.
“We are doing a flag retirement ceremony to honor our country and her veterans,” said Sean Donelson, 11, of Waxahachie. “We would like to invite the public and all veterans to attend the ceremony.”
This is the fourth year for the troop to perform this ceremony and Donelson said the troop has been planning the event for a month. The ceremony will include patriotic readings by members of the troop, a flag retirement ceremony and refreshments.
The troop collects the flags from the community, with families and businesses bringing in worn flags for a proper retirement.
Members of the community are also encouraged to bring worn flags to the ceremony Monday evening.
“This is a good opportunity to meet and thank the veterans for their service to our country,” Donelson said, adding the troop would like for everyone to come and take part in the event.
