A special book signing event for the recently released “Picture Perfect Waxahachie” has been scheduled for 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Johnny Carino’s Country Italian restaurant in Waxahachie.
The “Picture Perfect Waxahachie” book is published by Waxahachie-based commercial photographer Kevin Haislip and is currently being sold at numerous stores in Waxahachie.
“The goal from the very beginning was to make this a community book about our community,” Haislip said. “A lot of people have contributed to this to make it what it is. “As much as possible, I tried to pick photographs and writers that would give a particular perspective of why they love our town, and to write in such a way as to be inviting to the reader.”
In addition to Haislip, local photographers Lynn Cromer, Ami Trull, Sally Owens, Lezley Norris and Daily Light Publisher/Editor Neal White have contributed eye-catching images that capture the heart and soul Waxahachie.
Serving as contributing copy editors for the book are Hilda Chapman, Bonnie Ramsey, Sheryl Sullivan and Jody Haislip.
Each chapter begins with an essay about our community written by contributors Wanda Cain, Waxahachie Mayor Joe Jenkins, Bob Lynn of M2Marketing, Waxahachie Chamber president Debra Wakeland, and White.
The 128-page book will be sold locally for $34.95 and may be purchased at Chisholm Grill, The Dove’s Nest, Gingerbread Antique Mall & ClockMasters, Hastings Entertainment and at the Ellis County Museum.
Books will also be available during Tuesday’s special book signing party at Johnny Carino’s Country Italian restaurant, with all of the contributors scheduled to be on hand to sign copies.
“The project has definitely been a labor of love,” Haislip said. “It’s providing me with the opportunity to meet a lot of wonderful people. I’m looking forward to getting it out in front of the community, because this book is about us and the town we know and love.”
