A mulching machine was damaged by fire Wednesday at the Citizens Convenience Station in Waxahachie. First responders were dispatched to Lions Park Road at about 12:40 p.m.

“When we arrived on scene it was the top tub part of the mulching machine that was burning. There was also some product burning underneath the conveyor belt and the chute area,” Waxahachie Fire Department Battalion Chief Randy Muirhead said. “We went ahead and set up the hand lines and extinguished the fire.”

Muirhead said city employees working out at the station informed dispatchers about the fire but were unsure if it was the machine or piles of brush that were burning. Two engines from station one responded to the fire.

The cause of the fire was unknown as of press time.
