RED OAK - By late afternoon, a reported seven hostages had been released one at a time at the Wachovia Bank on Ovilla Road in Red Oak.
Shortly after the hostage release, police - including FBI - entered the building. No one was escorted by police from the building, and as of late evening, questions remained as to circumstances surrounding the situation.
FBI spokesman Lori Bailey told TV media at the scene that the necessary response was taken due to the information provided to police at the time.
TV coverage indicated each hostage walked out of the bank individually before being taken away in a vehicle by police. Five female and two male hostages were released.
Information was not immediately available as to whether the hostages included any customers.
The situation began at about 2 p.m., according to reports, with FBI officials, including SWAT team members, joining Red Oak police and sheriff's deputies at the scene.
Reports indicate two other suspects were taken into custody earlier during the incident. One fled the scene in a vehicle and was caught by police. A second suspect also was taken into custody after attempting to flee the scene.
Ovilla Road was closed to through traffic, with a barrier set up at about 1/2-mile away either direction, during the duration of the event.
