Avalon ISD officials have announced that the district has earned the recognized rating with the Texas Education Agency for the 2007-2008, a repeat of the rating awarded it for school year 2006-2007.

This year’s ratings are based on the state testing from the 2006-2007 school year for grades 3-11. AISD achieved the recognized rating based on no subject or subgroup with a total passing rate of less than 75 percent. Avalon’s overall passing rates were: reading/English language arts - 87 percent; writing - 96 percent; mathematics - 88 percent; social studies - 96 percent; science - 96 percent and SDAA - 92 percent.

“This accomplishment is a credit to the commitment from our students, involved parents and, of course, the teachers, staff and administration,” school Superintendent David Del Bosque said. “This recognition affirms my belief that Avalon ISD continues to provide a quality education for all of it students.”
