The community is invited to attend a special art show and reception, “Art Rocks,” at the Anderson Gallery, located in the Ellis County Art Association Fine Art Center.

The event is set for 7-9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, with a 1950s themed wine and cheese reception at the gallery, which is located on the lower level of the center, 501 W. Main St., Waxahachie.

Organizers are describing the event as a “far out artistic trip through the ’50s and ’60s.”

“There is hardly a facet of our present day lives that isn’t influenced by the powerful impact of these two decades,” a spokesman said. “Together, the ‘Boppers’ of the ’50s and the ‘Flower Children’ of the’60s changed the cultural climate in the United States and the world and are now our neighbors, politicians, clergy, teachers and CEOs.”
