A Waxahachie Police Department investigation into thefts in Indian Hills and Mustang Creek neighborhoods resulted in an arrest.

Joe Isaah Perales, 30, of Dallas was taken into custody May 5 at an apartment at 2200 Brown, which was searched by police in connection with these offenses, detective Lt. Todd Woodruff said.

“Detectives have interviewed a person found at that apartment about these crimes,” Woodruff said. “Marijuana and a handgun reported stolen to Dallas police in March was recovered at the apartment.”

Woodruff said Perales was taken into custody at the scene on Dallas PD warrants, with two additional charges filed: theft of firearm and unlawful possession of firearm by a felon. He remains in custody on $40,000 total bonds plus the outstanding class C warrants.

“Aspects of the investigation are ongoing,” Woodruff said.

In recent weeks, Waxahachie PD has received offense reports relating to the theft of wheels and tires off of SUV-type vehicles, some of which also had the third row seat removed.
