The Waxahachie Police Department is investigating an incident in which a 48-year-old man was allegedly stabbed with a knife by a known acquaintance.
The incident occurred Feb. 14, with police initially dispatched on a report of a stabbing victim who arrived at Baylor Medical Center at Waxahachie at about 7:45 p.m.
“After speaking with the patient, police learned the incident occurred at a home in the 100 block of Fairview St.,” detective Lt.
Todd Woodruff said. “Officers held the scene for WPD detectives.”
Officers interviewed one person who was still at the residence; however, the suspect was no longer on scene, Woodruff said.
Officers searched that night for the suspect, who walked into the police department at about 8:20 a.m. the next morning, Feb. 15, Woodruff said, saying the man agreed to talk with investigators.
Detectives recovered a knife believed used in the incident at about 9:30 a.m. in the 800 block of Getzendaner St., Woodruff said.
Taken into custody that same day was Barry Jerome Kindred, 46, of Waxahachie, who was charged with aggravated assault using a deadly weapon and booked into Wayne McCollum Detention Center. Bond was set at $20,000.
The victim was released from the hospital Feb. 15, Woodruff said.
