Sandra Lillian “Sandy” Cawley, 75 of Ovilla, Texas, passed away of natural causes on August 14, 2018. Sandra was born on May 9, 1943, in San Francisco, California to Gerhardt and Anna Mae Eggert. Her father was killed in combat in World War II in 1945 earning a Silver Star for heroism in action on Okinawa Island, Japan. She was raised by her uncle and aunt, George and Elizabeth “Lee” Pendergast. Sandra married Robert “Bob” Cawley in 1964 and had three children, Stacey, Frank and Kelly. Sandy and Bob relocated the family from California to Texas in 1976. In April 2014, Bob and Sandy celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Sandy worked as a roller skating rink owner and operator and as a legal assistant at one of the largest law firms in the country. Sandy was a devoted, loving mother, wife, and friend. She truly was a kind and gentle soul and loyal friend and confidant. She was active in the Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Ovilla, Texas and particularly cherished her bible study group. She enjoyed performing community service through the Ovilla Service League and as a member of the Ovilla Board of Adjustments for specialty permits. She was an avid reader and book club member. She also enjoyed scrapbooking and collecting antiques. Outside of her family, her dogs were her most prized possessions, and she would never turn away the stray cat or dog that would occasionally find its way into her home. She is preceded in death by her husband Bob and survived by her children Stacey Speegle of Ovilla, Texas, Frank Cawley of Little Elm, Texas, and Kelly Haas of Midlothian, Texas; 8 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held on August 18, 2018, at 4:00 p.m. at Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Ovilla, Texas.
