Gladys Hortense Boroughs was called home to her Savior after 99 years, 7 months and 1 day on this earth. What an amazing reunion that is going on in Heaven. Born November 22, 1918 to John Calvin “Doc” and Allie Mae Click in Weches, TX. She married Elton H. Boroughs on December 18, 1937 in Brownfield, TX. They had 5 children and deemed themselves the “Magnificent Seven”. Gladys, better known to many as Mammaw, was a longtime resident of Midlothian. Settling here in 1973, Gladys spent many years as a professional seamstress until her retirement in 1986. After her retirement, she spent countless hours making quilts, dolls, birdhouses, gardening, playing Skip-Bo, dominoes, traveling, word search puzzles, keeping up with the family tree, reminiscing over old photographs and enjoying her family. She quilted up until 2017 and had a true passion for some of the most beautiful quilts ever made. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, husband Elton of 63 years, son Wayne Boroughs, daughters Joyce Stice and Laverne French, as well as her brothers, Arlon, Bill and Roy Click. Gladys had accepted Christ in her early years and had spent a lifetime displaying the works of an obedient servant. She lived a remarkable life during an amazing time frame. She endured many hardships as well as many blessings. As her daughter, Janie said, “Mama lived through the Cowboys and Indians all the way to Amazing Grace”. She enjoyed life and her family to the fullest. As she stated many times, it was a life worth repeating and she would do it all again. She will be greatly missed and all of us that remain here will forever cherish the memories and special moments we have shared with her. Until we meet again, we will always hold you in our hearts. Gladys is survived by her children, Janie Belford and Hubert Boroughs, grandchildren, Jack, Pam, Danny, Janet, Tracy, Larry, Jan, Chi, Michelle, Mark, Stephanie, Skeet, Shane, Elton and Taylor; great-grandchildren, Jack Jr., Heidi, Buford, Diana, Daniel, Jennifer, David, Amanda, Drew, Kaylie, Dusty, Amanda, Mike, Eric, Heather, Daniel, Lauren, Jeff, Ashley, Bryon, Travis, Allyson, Marshall, Mason, Britney, Aiden, Patrick, Courtney, Brett, Makayla, Arianna, Austin and Hollie; great-great-grandchildren, Seth, Dallas, Noe, Sydney, Dani Ann, Lent, Kaci, Casen, Everett, Aubrey, Brandon, Nicky, Bailey, Evah, Maci, Case, Sammie, Miranda, Emalee, Bailey, Hunter, Tymber, Rhett, Madelyn, Vincent, Sophie, Reed, Bryon, Skylynn, Havok, Matthew, Caden, Carter, Beckam and Grace and sister, Sue Burgess.
