Billy Frank Bumpus went to join our Lord on June 22, 2018. He was born on November 11, 1937 to Frank Hamilton Bumpus and Hazel Windham Bumpus in Italy, Texas. He graduated from Italy High School in 1956, worked for the Matador Ranch and went on to earn a B.S. in Animal Science from Texas A&M University in 1962. Frank then completed two years of military service prior to beginning his career as a Texas A&M Agri Life Extension Agent where he competed 30 years of service across Grayson, Montague, Tarrant and Johnson counties. Through the years Frank volunteered at the Ft Worth Stock Show & Rodeo posting 42 consecutive years of service with the horse division, served as the State Fair of Texas Heifer Superintendent for 15 years as well as worked the American Quarter Horse Association Youth World Shows for 15 years.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years Gail Bumpus of Italy, nephew James Irvin of Italy and numerous great nieces & nephews. Frank was preceded by his sisters Cecilia Irvin and Kathryn Fikes.

Frank had an overall love for the world of farming & ranching. He not only loved watching a quality horse show, but enjoyed mentoring young people in horse judging events. He was skilled at building and repairing structures and was a one man building crew completing 3 hay/metal garages alone. Frank also has an interest in flying. He received his private pilot license while at A&M and moved on to get a multi-engine rating & instrument rating while living in Bowie. During his time in the Army he was a medic and served as the company clerk because he could type without errors.

Visitation will be Monday, June 25th from 6pm-8pm, at Boze Mitchell McKibbin Funeral Home, Italy Texas. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, June 26th at 10am, Italy Central Baptist Church, Italy Texas.
