WAXAHACHIE

Hot off the stove and straight onto the tarmac, Mid-Way Regional Airport will host its annual Pancake Breakfast Fly-in event and the community is invited. The event will take place from 8-11 a.m. on June 2.

Located between Midlothian and Waxahachie, the airport stands as a combined symbol of community comradery and all things aviation.

“It’s an event we have every year on the first Saturday in June, and it has become more and more popular each year,” said Tammy Bowen, airport operation assistant. “It gives people the opportunity to get close and personal to airplanes, and it gives the residents of our community a chance to see their Airport.”

Bowen said It’s a very unique event for the whole family, and there is something for every age. Both locals and people from other communities come out to enjoy this event every year.

Boy Scout Troop 524 will also be present to serve pancakes to hungry guests. The breakfast for adults and children over eight years old is $6 and children under three years old are $3. Only cash will be accepted.

The event will feature fly-overs, helicopter rides, Commemorative Air Force vintage airplane rides, DC-3 rides, and classic airplanes and fighters will be on display. There will also be live music, and children’s activities such as train rides, bounce house, face painting and Dusti the Clown. The Midlothian Classic Wheels car club and the Gold Wing Road Riders will have vehicles on display.

There is no entrance fee, and parking is free.

Bowen stated through rain or shine, the Pancake Breakfast Fly-in will be a time for all of Ellis County to enjoy.

“It’s a great family event for everyone with something to do for all ages, and we’re all about helping build the workforce of tomorrow by getting kids interested in aviation,” Bowen said. “We hope to see everyone here Saturday taking advantage of all we have to offer.”
