The Red Oak High School Shotgun Team competed in the 2018 Scholastic Clay Target Program State Competition on May 4 — 6 at the Ellis County Sportsman Club in Waxahachie.
The team, which is comprised of students across Ellis County high schools, took third-overall high-team and will compete next at the U.S. Regional Competition at the National Shooters Complex in San Antonio on June 16 and 17.
During a successful weekend, Travis Domke, a sophomore at Midlothian High School, placed on the All-State Team in both skeet and trap shooting. This honor goes to the athletes who finish in the top five of each discipline.
Team Sponsor Jake Mullican, complimented the third-place ranking and applauded the students' efforts.
“We know they will represent our school and our community with that same passion, character, and integrity at the regional qualifier in June. And, who knows, maybe we will once again have a national champion to recognize in July,” Mullican elaborated.
Coaches for the team are Brooks Humphreys and Robert Ramsden.
