Carolyn Ann McAlpin Briggs, 80, passed away peacefully with her loving husband and daughter by her side, Wednesday morning, May 9, 2018. She was born on October 29, 1937 in Midlothian, TX to Bill and Myrtle McAlpin. She was raised on the family farm learning the ways of life on a dairy farmer. She graduated the class of 56’ from Midlothian High School. She met the love of her life W. H. Briggs and they were married on September 29, 1956. They shared life together hand in hand for over 61 years. Carolyn attended Beauty College and worked as a beautician for 25 years. She later made a career as a floral designer. Carolyn served 25 years with the Waxahachie Hospital Auxiliary where she served as President and manager of the gift shop. She was also a member of the Waxahachie Garden Club and Mother’s Club. After she and H retired, they returned to the family farm where they built their “House in a Barn”. They enjoyed square dancing, camping in their RV and hosting get-togethers with friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Myrtle McAlpin. She s survived by her devoted husband, H. Briggs, daughter Terri Hegar and husband, Preston, son, Barry Briggs and wife, Deborah and she was a loving grandmother and great-grandmother. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Baylor, Scott, White Auxiliary Waxahachie or Feed the Children Fund at the First United Methodist Church, Midlothian. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, May 13, 2018 at Midlothian Funeral Home and services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 14, 2018 at First United Methodist Church, Midlothian, TX. Burial will follow at Mt. Peak Cemetery, Midlothian.
