Jake Wiggins, a senior at Maypearl High School, was selected as one of the top basketball players in Texas and recently participated in the 18th annual Texas Roundup All-Star game.
Wiggins, a 6-foot-2 forward, led the Panthers to a 27-7 record on the season and 12-2 mark in 17-3A. He averaged 14.3 points, 9.8 rebounds, 1.8 blocks, 1.7 assists, and 1.6 steals per game this season.
The game was held March 17 in Maypearl. The Texas Roundup, considered one of the state's most prestigious events, selects the top 24 boys and 24 girls in the state from Class 1—4A schools. Players selected are chosen from hundreds of nominations statewide.
Recruiters across the state also participate as advisors in the Texas Roundup selection process.
