Ellis County visitors and business professionals will soon have another option for a good night of rest, as La Quinta’s new hotel model, The Del Sol, plans to break ground in Red Oak over the next two weeks.
The hotel is set to open for guest in 2019.
The four-story hotel will feature 85 rooms, an outdoor pool and courtyard areas. It also features modern contemporary architecture as a part of its design.
Overseeing the development is AMP Hospitality. Arun Patel, with AMP, stated the company saw a unique opportunity in Red Oak because of the new growth occurring in the community.
“I have been in Dallas for about 20 years working in hotels and developing hotels. We saw an opportunity in Red Oak. For many years I have only seen one hotel there, and it seemed to be doing really good business,” Patel said. “With the Metroplex growing as fast as it has, Red Oak is seeing a lot of growth and so is Waxahachie. So we decided that there was a future opportunity for development.”
Patel presented the project to the city’s economic development board and city staff members. Staff with La Quinta gave their assistance in developing the site. The project recently passed through the permitting process and is now completing dig testing to mark the locations of existing utility lines on the site.
Patel explained the hotel model provides guests with a lot of different amenities to help them conduct business or relax. He shared that the Del Sol model is a beautiful property with a modern design.
“These hotels have a lot more amenities that today’s tech-savvy people look for. Corporate workers, when they stay at a hotel, they want this playground-type environment when they get off of work,” Patel stated. “The lobby is a lot bigger, and it is a lot more relaxing, friendly, and inviting. It has internet that is available throughout the area. There is a really nice swimming pool area with a fireplace.”
Patel continued, stating that there will be a patio where guests can enjoy the outdoors. The hotel will also feature a small shop where guest can purchase small items.
The online prototype brochure states that some of the standard guest room amenities and features include a spacious bedroom with a nine-foot ceiling, a 37-inch flat screen television, high-speed internet access, pillow-top mattresses, microwave, refrigerator, desk, and a coffee maker.
“Inspired by extensive guest-experience research, the Del Sol prototype combines iconic brand elements with elegantly clean geometric lines,” the brochure states. “It is a dramatic composition of color and texture that creates a façade that is bold and inviting artfully bending light and shadow provides a new level of warmth that enhances the guest experience.”
The La Quinta website states that it has 870 hotels across the U.S., Mexico, and Canada, and claims the chain is one of the fastest growing midscale hotels.
The 30,000-square foot hotel will be located next to Walmart in the 500 block of Interstate Highway 35E. It will also be apart of the development that features Starbucks and Chick-fil-A.
Construction on the project is estimated to take around 12-14 months to complete.
