Families are at the heart of the business plan of the newest Waxahachie restaurant, Jimmy’s Wings and Burgers. The staff works to make this goal a reality with its food and laid-back atmosphere that everyone can enjoy.
Customers have a wide selection of custom-made burgers to choose from that are made fresh when ordered. They can go with several sandwich options as well as an assortment of wings.
Luis Rodriguez, co-owner, stated before opening their doors in February a lot of research went into finding the right location and Waxahachie rose to the top as the best option. He explained the people working at Jimmy’s make up the spirit of the restaurant. His father, Enrique Rodriguez, has worked in the restaurant field for the past 15 years and strives to do his best for the people he serves each day.
“My dad is the one that runs the restaurant all-day with my mom. I have worked with my dad before, and he is a unique guy. He is the kind of guy that will work to make things right,” Rodriguez shared. “He has always been like that even if it is just a job for himself. He has to always has to make things right. If something is not right, he will tell you right away. He wants to make sure everything will come out great.”
He added the other employees have picked up on the work ethic and noted the food matches the service.
“We have about 30 burgers that you can try from and different combinations,” Rodriguez said. “We have about 10 flavors of wings that you can try.”
Rodriguez stated his favorite burger on the menu is for those craving something a little spicier — La Toriada. The hamburger is made up of fresh jalapeno, grilled bacon, ham, pepper jack cheese, tomatoes, pickles, mayo, and spinach.
Customers with a more extensive appetite might attempt the Texas Double Burger. The one-pound burger features two beef patties, sautéed onions, mushrooms, jalapenos, bell peppers, bacon, America and provolone cheese, mayo, ketchup, hickory sauce, mustard, lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles.
“I think burgers and wings are a great combination, just from personal experience,” Rodriguez stated. “We try to keep our menu as big as we can so if a person does not like this one thing they can try something else.”
Rodriguez suggested people who are not quite as adventurous to try the basic cheeseburger, which will still satisfy most hunger pains. Other options on the menu include a steak sandwich, a turkey sub, and wings (he recommends the lemon pepper flavor, which in his view “can’t be beaten”). Dine-in customers can enjoy sports on several flat screen televisions around the restaurant.
People who cannot stop in for a meal can phone ahead and place an order to pick up. Orders take around 14-20 minutes due to everything being made fresh. Rodriguez cautioned if there is a high volume of orders, new orders might take a little longer to prepare. Customers will be notified of the wait during their phone call.
Rodriguez noted the restaurant is working an agreement with Texas-to-Go to have delivery service in the future. If not, they will hire staff for that role.
He also added the kindness from the community can be felt by all staff members.
“I really want to thank the support from the community because the love has been great,” Rodriguez said. “It is just our dream coming true thanks to the people here in Waxahachie that are making it possible.”
