Dr. Al Benskin, principal at Waxahachie High School and Mr. Ken Lynch, Global High School Principal, presented their Students of the Month for February to the Rotary Club
Lillian Salvador is the WHS student of the month for February. She is a senior at WHS where she has been involved in several of the school’s clubs including being a member of Interact for all four years of her high school career.
For two years, Salvador was in the Waxahachie Indian Band and has been involved in many of the band’s recent victories. Salvador has been in Culture Club for both her junior and senior years. She has also been in HOSA for two years.
Salvador, who is ranked in the top four of her class, plans to continue her education in the field of nursing. Although she has not decided on a college yet, she is anxious to pursue her medical career.
Waxahachie Global High School student of the month for February is Victoria Vecerra. Vecerra, who is a senior this year, is the daughter of Maribel Vecerra.
Vecerra is a hard worker academically and is described by her teachers as being positive and always smiling. She is studious and expresses a lot of personality and deep-rooted contemplation in her writing.
Vecerra cares about the world around her which is obvious in her Interact community service. Being an Interact member for four years, she spends many hours working at Hidden Miracles. She is also involved in the carnation sales fundraiser that Interact sponsors twice a year.
In her spare time, Vecerra enjoys reading, discovering new music, watching movies and drawing. In the future, Victoria plans to attend the University of Texas at Tyler to study nursing.
