It was Kim Carrington’s "passion for business" that left Teresa Morrow thinking she was the missing piece to a successful wellness spa. Three short months later, the two opened Longevi-T Wellness Spa in downtown Waxahachie.
Combining Carrington’s entrepreneurial mindset with Morrow’s healing techniques and modalities, they knew their skills complemented each other. They joked about being each other’s yin and yang.
“Everything in here is dedicated to holistic, wellness treatments and we encourage people to live better,” Carrington shared. “We also offer nutritional supplements. Everything here is organically geared toward feeling better, living better, looking better and healthier.”
Morrow and Carrington said they are thrilled about the business opening because their services are unique to Ellis County. Morrow also sees her business as a way to give back.
“Since God has saved me through cancer, I feel like I have to pay back the debt I owe him for saving me through cancer twice,” Morrow said.
“Everything here is for healing purposes,” Carrington emphasized.
Longevi-T offers four primary services, which include infrared sauna, Dead Sea mineral mud treatment, BioMat, Dead Sea salt foot detox. All of the services serve as a detox treatment. Carrington joked saying she calls the spa a “detox spa.”
The infrared sauna’s purpose is to detox the body as rays penetrate two to three inches into the skin. As the infrared rays stimulate the skin, it expels toxins, whereas a traditional sauna makes a person sweat.
Carrington said after a 30-minute session in the sauna, a client would expend 600 calories.
During the Dead Sea mud bath, mud is applied to the skin and is set to dry. It absorbs into the skin and detoxifies the cells. Morrow said the mud bath would leave a client feeling lighter and healthier. Kim recommends the mud bath to clients with a variety of skin conditions.
The BioMat is a unique service as it is comparable to an infrared sauna on steroids. The infrared rays penetrate six to eight inches into the skin. The BioMat has amethyst crystals in it and heats up.
Both women have heard testimonies from clients about being relieved from pain when dealing with fibromyalgia. Morrow shared that her client was able to sleep peacefully through the night for the first time in 10 years after the BioMat treatment.
“It’s like getting an internal massage pretty much,” Morrow explained.
“After laying on the mat for 30 minutes, it’s like having a deep tissue massage without the pain,” Kim added.
When laying on the FDA approved mat, the client listens to a meditation tape and will usually be induced to a delta state of relaxation.
“So what it does it that your parenthetic nervous system, which is your rest and digestive system,” Theresa added.
Another detox treatment Longevi-T provides is the Dead Sea foot detox. While a client’s feet soak in warm water and array oil, the client wears an electromagnetic bracelet. Through the small circuit flowing through the body, that’s too low to feel, the color of the water will start to turn different colors, showing what exactly is being pulled out of the body.
Even for people who eat and practice a healthy lifestyle could benefit from releasing toxins in the body, Morrow explained how anyone would benefit from the wellness spa as peoples' bodies absorb toxins on a daily basis from the air and water.
