MANSFIELD

To label Saturday a success for the Waxahachie Cherokee Charmers and Maidens would be an understatement.

A vast, misleading recap of just how dominant the two dance squads performed at the ShowTime International Winter Dance Classic at Mansfield High School.

They did, after all, claim three grand championships in the process.

Both the Charmer officers and the group as a whole claimed their grand championship titles, which include invitations to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and the Citrus Bowl.

The two groups also earned sweepstakes and judges awards, which means the girls received a score of 92 or above from each judge.

Senior Alexis Willis also high-kicked her way to the senior kick master championship title.

The Maiden junior varsity squad won the overall grand championship title in their division, as well as the sweepstakes and judges awards. The Maidens also claimed best in the category for the pom, novelty and military routines.
