PALMER

Twenty-one points in the first quarter were really all the Maypearl Lady Panthers needed Friday evening on the road against Palmer.

That is, because, Maypearl outscored Palmer 56-15 over the next three frames of the 77-19 District 17-3A win.

Meredith Keasler led the Lady Panthers with 19 points, while Kynlee Herrin scored all 15 of her points from behind the arc.

Lillie Beason poured in 12 points. Alyssa Holder, Shana Ratliff and Sol Cabuto all scored six points. Hadlee Gibson added five points, Rileyanne Malone chipped in three, and Phylicia Grimes finished with two.

Palmer sophomore Tiffany Sadler led the Lady Bulldogs with eight points, while junior Cristy Valenzuela had four points and a team-high five rebounds.

Maypearl is now 15-12 on the season and 7-2 in district play. The Lady Panthers sit in third place of the district standings behind (20-8, 9-0) Grandview and (21-9, 7-2) Keene.

With five games to play, Maypearl needs one win or a Palmer loss to solidify a playoff berth.
