Red Oak Police arrested Jaden Austin Grubbs, 18, in connection with the armed robbery of the Red Oak Mart convenience store with a long rifle on Jan. 7.
Grubbs has been charged with aggravated robbery.
Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of N. State Highway 342 in reference to a robbery that had just taken place at 10:28 p.m.
“The on-duty dispatcher advised that the reporting person informed them that a white male subject carrying a ‘long rifle’ had just robbed them and ran off,” Red Oak Police Lt. Marc Schroeder said. “The suspect took cash from the register and the clerk’s wallet and fled.”
Schroeder stated that police deployed a canine unit, which tracked the suspect to a general location. This led to identifying a person of interest.
Further investigation, which included an interview with Grubbs, led to a full confession and the recovery of the victim’s wallet and weapon used by the defendant.
Grubbs was arrested and booked into the Red Oak City Jail at 4:56 p.m. on Jan. 10.
According to online records from the Wayne McCollum Detention Center, Grubbs was transferred and booked in at 2:09 a.m. on Jan. 12. He remains in custody at the detention center on a $150,000 bond as of midday Thursday.
