With a chance to steal the top spot in District 17-3A away from Grandview as they head into the second half of district play, two big quarters doomed the Maypearl Lady Panthers on their home court Friday.

Grandview outscored Maypearl 16-8 in the first quarter and 19-5 in the third quarter to outpace the Lady Panthers. The 3A No. 21 Lady Zebras won 56-34 to remain undefeated in district play.

Maypearl dropped to 13-12 overall and 5-2 in District 17-3A. They will host Blooming Grove Tuesday, Jan. 16 at 6:30 p.m.

Alyssa Holder led the way for the Lady Panthers with 11 points, while Meredith Keasler scored seven, and both Hadlee Gibson and Sol Cabuto scored six points. Phylicia Grimes added four points to round out the Maypearl scoring.

The Lady Panthers shot 28 percent from the field as a team.

Lillie Beason led the team with five rebounds and Keasler added two steals.
