If a Runnin' Indian checked into the game Tuesday, he scored. He also helped Waxahachie outpace Mansfield Legacy in each of the four quarters of the 72-45 win.

Waxahachie led 18-12 after the first quarter and carried a 31-23 lead into the half. The Runnin' Indians then outscored the Broncos 41-22 in the second half.

Waxahachie entered the game still ranked No. 2 in this week's TABC 5A poll.

Larry Wise followed up his stellar offensive showing last Friday against state-ranked Midlothian with a team-high 19 points on the road Tuesday night against the Broncos. He also pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.

JT Warren poured in 16 points with three boards, while Qua Grant added nine points, three rebounds, three steals, and four assists.

Though he took just three shots on the evening and scored two points, Waxahachie point guard Tre Gipson dished out a team-high five assists to go with his two points.

CJ Noland and Steron Sturges added six points, each. Demani Richardson added five points, Tevin Wofford scored four, and Mekai Pope and Jaron Curry had three.

Waxahachie shot 71 percent (23-32) from inside the arc in the win, while connecting on just 4-of-26 from deep. The Runnin' Indians committed 12 turnovers.

Trevone Fuller led the way for the Broncos with 20 points, while Matt Reeves scored 14.

The win moved Waxahachie to 17-4 on the season and 4-0 in District 10-5A. Waxahachie remains tied with Mansfield Timberview atop the district standings after the Wolves defeated Lancaster on Tuesday.

Waxahachie will get its first crack at payback and a chance to dethrone No. 1 (20-3, 4-0) Mansfield Timberview this Friday, Jan. 12 at George W. Solis Gymnasium in Waxahachie. Tipoff is at 8 p.m.

Waxahachie will then host current-No. 15 (13-9, 3-1) Lancaster at the GSG next Tuesday, Jan. 16 at 8 p.m. The Tigers lost to Timberview 58-42 on Tuesday.
