The Midlothian Heritage girls basketball team bounced back from a pair of losses in the 59th annual Fibermax Caprock Classic to slide by the Life Waxahachie Mustangs on Tuesday.
The Jaguars took a 20-15 lead into the halftime locker room and held a 36-29 advantage after three quarters. Behind balanced scoring from Danie Wallace (15 points), Jasmine Bailey (13 points) and Blythe Williams (13 points), Heritage outpaced Life Waxahachie 16-10 in the fourth quarter for the 54-39 District 8-4A win.
The Jaguars are now 21-3 overall and 3-0 in district play. The entered the week ranked No. 13 in the most recent TABC 4A poll after a 2-2 showing in the 59th annual Fibermax Caprock Classic over the weekend.
In tournament action, the Jaguars won a thriller against Lubbock in the opener, 34-32, and followed that up with a win against Greenwood, 52-43.
Heritage then fell to 4A No. 1 (21-1) Levelland 43-35 in the semifinals. The Jaguars then bowed out of the tournament to 3A No. 7 Idalou, 58-29.
Midlothian Heritage continues district action with a crucial home game Friday evening against Stephenville. The Honeybees are 11-10 on the season and 2-1 in District 8-4A. Tipoff is at 6:15 p.m.
