WAXAHACHIE — Jessica Sodich, a senior outside hitter for the Southwestern Assemblies of God University Lady Lions volleyball team, has been named to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Honorable Mention All-American team.
Sodich and the Lady Lions finished their season in the NCCAA National semi-finals and with a program record 30 win season. Sodich was instrumental in that success. She finished the season with 565 kills and 564 digs. Sodich finishes her playing career ranked third all-time in kills and in digs.
Coach Hank Moore had nothing but praise for Sodich, both on and off the floor.
“I could not be more proud for a player," Moore said. "Jessica has overcome many obstacles in the last few years. She is the reason we have had the year we have had. She ranks high in every statistical category and all that is amazing. The most amazing thing is how she managed this season. She worked a job, took a full load of classes, and was the most amazing momma to two beautiful little girls.”
Earlier, last week the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) honored three Lady Lions for their performances this season. Sodich, along with senior middle hitter Paulyae Dawkins were named First Team All-American and sophomore setter Sophia Ivy was named to the Second Team All-American.
