WAXAHACHIE — A fourth-quarter Mansfield Lake Ridge surge made things a little interesting Friday night in Waxahachie, but the Lady Indians were up to the task.
Waxahachie picked up its second District 10-5A win in as many tries by defeating Lake Ridge 48-35 at George W. Solis Gymnasium.
The Lady Indians jumped out to a 13-6 first-quarter lead and never looked back. They led by eight points after the second quarter (22-14) and then outscored the Lady Eagles 16-2 in the third quarter for a 38-16 lead.
Sarah Bush led the way with 15 points with six points coming in the fourth quarter. Fresh off of her 14-rebound performance, Rayna Ross dropped in 12 points. Ross led the team with seven rebounds on a night with eight Lady Indians pulled down two boards or more.
Mya Williams finished with eight points, Diamond Atchison had six, Cassidy Morgan had four, and Destini Washington had three.
Atchison led the team with four assists and six steals. Jordan McGee added four steals and Washington had three.
Aricona Rosborough led the Lady Eagles with 10 points and Kennedi Burns has seven. The Lady Eagles went 9-for-22 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter and 16-for-37 at the charity stripe for the game.
The Lady Indians are now 12-4 on the season and 2-0 in District 10-5A. They return to action Tuesday, Dec. 19 at home against (10-8, 0-2) Mansfield Summit.
The Lady Jaguars average 49.2 points per game, while the Lady Indians enter posting 55.2 points per contest.
Tipoff is at 6:30 p.m. in George W. Solis Gymnasium.
