The Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce recently announced Sandy King was selected as the new president and CEO.

The announcement comes after an extensive, statewide examination of multiple applicants, which began in July 2017 with a search led by the Chamber’s Search Committee.

King was recommended for the position in early November. She was then unanimously confirmed Nov. 9 by the Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce Executive Board of Directors and the General Board of Directors.

“The Chamber is a strong, award-winning organization that was built on a legacy of people before me and I will carry that torch with honor,” King expressed. “I am humbled by the outpouring of support I received through this process and I am extremely proud to be part of this great team.”

During her three-year career with the Chamber, King has served as the budget director, CFO, and director of member engagement. However, the Executive and General Board both agreed that King’s extensive experience in business development, budgeting, and financial analysis prior to beginning with the chamber coupled with her passion for the community will serve the organization's interests greatly.

Future Chair of the Chamber Board and HEB General Manager, Bruce Glaves, stated, “We chose Sandy because she has a history in the community with being one that has really done well for the Chamber in her current position. She came highly recommended from trusted references and a lot of folks she dealt with in the past, and we felt that she was the best choice for the job.”

A mother of two, King is also a 13-year Waxahachie resident and has previously served as a business owner, business development consultant, and medical administrator for the last 20 years. Outside of work, King also finds the time to serve on six volunteer boards of directors for non-profits that assist the Waxahachie community.

As the Chamber’s President and CEO, King will oversee a staff of three to carry on the Chamber’s operations and plans to introduce programming and services with the excellence that its members have come to expect.

“We are a vibrant community with a rich history and a million reasons to live and work here,” King encouraged. “For decades, our city leaders have been committed to maintaining a quality of life that is unmatched. Now, more and more people want to be a part of our community knowing that Waxahachie is poised for great things.”

“At the Chamber, we have an intelligent, passionate staff that is excited to charge ahead for our members. Growth is upon us and we are ready for it,” she concluded.
