To the Editor,

How do both the Total Waxahachie Tax rate and the WISD tax rate compare to other DFW ISD rates? Below is a summary comparing WISD to a handful of the more well-known, higher performing districts. For a complete list of the ~316 ISDs, search for "2016-2017 DFW Metroplex Property Tax Rate Guide". 2016-2017 DFW Metroplex Rate Guide Name by City/ISD Total City ISD County Waxahachie/Waxahachie ISD 2.614 0.680 1.554 0.380 With A&B Bond Pkg (+ .086) 2.700 0.680 1.640 0.380 Red Oak/Red Oak ISD 2.569 0.649 1.540 0.380 Palmer/Palmer ISD 2.545 0.690 1.475 0.380 Midlothian/Midlothian USD 2.628 0.708 1.540 0.380 Italy/Avalon ISD 2.539 0.926 1.233 0.380 Ennis/Ennis ISD 2.619 0.699 1.540 0.380 Ferris/Ferris ISD 2.422 0.687 1.355 0.380 University Park/Highland Park 1.654 0.249 1.153 0.252 Trophy Club/Northwest ISD 2.174 0.473 1.453 0.248 Southlake/Northwest ISD 2.163 0.462 1.453 0.248 Plano/Frisco ISD 2.187 0.479 1.460 0.248 Prosper/Prosper ISD 2.438 0.520 1.670 0.248 Allen/Allen ISD 2.318 0.520 1.590 0.208 Frisco/Frisco ISD 2.118 0.450 1.460 0.208 McKinney/McKinney ISD 2.401 0.573 1.620 0.208 Carrollton/Farmers Branch ISD 2.248 0.604 1.392 0.252 Coppell/Coppell ISD 2.325 0.580 1.493 0.252 Aledo/Aledo ISD 2.314 0.385 1.595 0.334 Arlington/Mansfield ISD 2.409 0.645 1.510 0.254 Colleyville/Birdville ISD 2.047 0.339 1.454 0.254 Flower Mound/Northwest ISD 2.146 0.439 1.453 0.254 Grapevine/Colleyville ISD 1.940 0.289 1.397 0.254 Net Message: With proposed increase, WISD tax rate will be higher than 296 out of 316 schools in the DFW area. Perhaps now is the time to vote NO and to ask the administration and city officials to seek other ways to pay for the 2 new schools ($50million), remodeled school ($10million), natatorium (indoor swimming pool for $13million), and a new ag barn for $5million).
