MANSFIELD — It took Mansfield Lake Ridge all of 54 seconds to find the end zone Friday in a 42-17 dismantling of Waxahachie at RL Anderson Stadium.
Though the game did not factor into playoff seeding for either team, the Eagles officially locked up the District 10-5A title in the process.
The Lake Ridge offense, led by running back Catraven Walker, outpaced the Indians 484 yards to 341.
The Eagles scored twice in the first quarter on a pair of Walker runs and then three more times in the second quarter for a 35-0 halftime lead.
Walker finished the game with 156 yards on eight carries and three touchdowns. Dewone Jackson added 97 yards on 11 carries and quarterback Jason Bean carried the football twice for 47 yards. Bean also completed 8-of-12 for 172 yards and two touchdowns. He also threw an interception.
Waxahachie allowed nearly all of its roster to see action during the game, as the first-team offense remained on the sideline for most of the first half and a large majority of the second half.
Quarterback DJ Hollywood finished the game 5-of-6 for 59 yards and a touchdown pass to sophomore Josh Sterns (2-13). Mason Brewer completed 6-of-10 passes for 58 yards and Bryse Salik went 7-of-10 for 46 yards.
Jaden Watson led the Indian ground attack with 13 carries for 57 yards and a touchdown. Tre Cooks added nine carries for 34 yards and Colbe Noland ran 13 times for 30 yards.
Jhamarian Sargent led the receiving core with six receptions for 41 yards. Garrett Milliken caught two passes for 36 yards, while Aaron Tesei pulled in three passes for 33 yards.
Because of the Mansfield Summit win over Mansfield Timberview, Waxahachie will play District 9-5A champion Everman on Friday, Nov. 17 at Midlothian ISD Multipurpose Stadium in the 5A Division II bi-district championship.
Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
