HILLSBORO — State rankings do not win games. The Rogers Lady Eagles missed the memo.

Maypearl upset the Texas Girls Coaches Association No. 3 Rogers in straight-set fashion Tuesday, Nov. 2, 25-15, 27-25, 25-16.

Maypearl will now play West in the 3A regional quarterfinal Monday, Nov. 6 at Hillsboro High School. The win also moved the Lady Panthers to 30-13 on the season.

Madison Ball led the Lady Panthers with 12 kills while Peyton Pogue added 11. Marissa Stottlemire chipped in eight kills on 18 swings (.389 hitting percentage), and senior Katie Gann finished with seven.

As a team, the Lady Panthers recorded seven aces and were led by Ball and Gann with two, each. The tandem also combined with Stottlemire for 18 of the team's 19 blocks.

Ball also led with 17 digs, while Steelie Ledbetter and Pogue added 16 and Gann had 15.

Freshman Carsen Young led the team with 20 assists and Gann added 15.
