WAXAHACHIE — The Lady Lions continue to stack-up the player-of-the-week recognitions and have once again been honored again by the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Southwestern Assemblies of God senior, Paulyae Dawkins, was named the SAC Attacker of the Week for her outstanding performance this past weekend.
SAGU beat Wayland Baptist University and Oklahoma Panhandle State University to remain tied for first with Oklahoma City University atop the SAC standings. SAGU moves to 23-5 overall and 13-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Dawkins, a 5-foot-11 middle blocker from Grand Prairie, was dominant at the net for the Lady Lions, recording 24 kills in the wins. She averaged 2.67 kills per set.
Dawkins was happy to be honored by the SAC for her accomplishments.
Dawkins said, “Every time I step onto the court, my focus is tuned in and I work hard for every play. It is an honor to be recognized as the attacker of the week in such a competitive conference.”
SAGU will play a two-game home stand this weekend with Mid-America Christian University and University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma. Friday SAGU will host MACU for their annual “Blue Out” game to support and honor colon cancer survivors and those who have been affected by colon cancer. The game will begin at 7:00 p.m. Friday at the SAGU Sheaffer Center.
