BOSQUEVILLE — In a crucial district football game with playoff implications, the Italy Gladiators fell in a barnburner to Bosqueville 47-34 last Friday.

Kendrick Norwood led the Gladiators with 21 carries for 198 yards and four rushing touchdowns. Freshman Daylan Slade added 76 yards on 11 carries, while Marcos Duarte completed 3-of-4 through the air for 80 yards and a 51-yard touchdown to Al Waits. Clay Riddle (21 yards) and Christion Washington (8 yards) caught the other two passes.

The Gladiators are now 1-2 in District 8-2A and in a three-way tie with Riesel and Axtell. The win keeps Bosqueville tied with Mart atop the district standings at a perfect 3-0.

Italy faces (7-1, 3-0) Mart this Friday on the road at 7:30 p.m. before returning home Friday, Nov. 10 to play Axtell. The Gladiators are 4-4 on the season.
